A New Railbus for the DLR
By Mark Thatcher
With the winter season approaching, the management of the Dovecote Light Railway felt it prudent to acquire a smaller more cost effective form of transport to serve the smaller number of passengers at this time of year, without having to “steam up” everyday…
…well that at least is the logic behind this article, the building of a railbus kit from IP Engineering. This first instalment largely covers the preparation and painting of the various sub-assemblies, which go to make up the body. The next article to follow will concentrate on the chassis, and then onto the final assembly – which is probably a good three weeks away.
In this kit you’ll get everything you need to complete the railbus kit, including motor and gear assembly, manual speed controller, all the wiring, wheelsets and buffers. You just need to provide the paint and glue.
